While the Quebec Winter Carnival is NOT on Canada Day, it IS a uniquely Canadian celebration! The character Le Bonhomme presides over the festival and occupies the Ice Palace that is constructed each year. Le Bonhomme wears the trademark "Arrow Sash" and a Red cap linked directly to Québec folklore, inspired by the Amerindian culture. The Winter Carnival generally takes place from late January to mid February each year in Québec City
